Wise words, one step at a time
It’s tulle, darling.

All in The Family Vintage
I've been home sick all day, & in lieu of cabin fever I decided to jump on the eBay bandwagon. I started searching for a Navajo cape (NO idea how that popped into my head) and stumbled across this cape - which I'm now bidding on - from an amazing store called The Family Vintage.

Furnishing with Alexander McQueen
The Rug Company + Alexander McQueen = carpets and throw pillows featuring some of McQueen's iconic patterns and designs. The Skull Gold cushion is the Pièce de résistance for me.

And 90210’s touch of grey
I've never used this blog to post anything negative and definitely don't plan on using it as such, but as the next picture I spotted on People after Jessica Stroup's outfit, I went from oooh to ughh. I'm more curious what others think of Shenae Grimes' outfit; I'm trying to pick it apart to decide if there's any piece that speaks to me...and there's just not.

90210’s Silver lining
Silver, or Jessica Stroup out of character, had the look of the night in a 3/4 length sleeve LBD, at the Taste of Beverly Hills event last night. I love this dress, I love her pixie cut, and mostly I love her simplicity and elegance.

A Valentino for your thoughts
With the onslaught of fashion shows looming, I'm feeling a little sentimental about one couturier in particular, and am tempted to sit here typing away in my fitted black wool crepe long-sleeved knee-length Valentino dress, if not for it now becoming an art piece in my condo as opposed to a wearable garment. That, and I'm sitting on my bed typing and a Valentino deserves better than that.
Watching Valentino: The Last Emporer changed something in my feelings and respect for the designer; I already considered him an artist and intuitive mastermind. After seeing a more in-depth depiction of Valentino, I see a man who (frankly, understandably) considers himself and his power above everyone and everything; a man who oozes self-confidence and yet still questions his decisions when thinking no one is watching; and a man who has a strikingly deep and sensitive side to him. I'm completely drawn to this man, and wish I could continue to learn more about him through new collections. Instead, I've chosen to take my Valentino out of it's garment bag and hang it on the back of my closet door for the world to see-aka any visitors to my home-and admire, as I do.

I was inspired by FASHION magazine's fashion director, Susie Sheffman, who shows in the picture above her Miu Miu LBD hanging in her home, photographed in 2008 by Canadian House and Home. I feel that my Valentino deserves the same respect.
